THE SPREAD OF MEASLES IN UNVACCINATED CHILDREN AND PREVENTIVE MEASURES

Journal Title: International scientific journal Science and Innovation - Year 2025, Vol 4, Issue 2

Abstract

Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that causes significant morbidity and mortality, particularly among children. While the introduction of the measles vaccine has led to a remarkable decline in the number of cases, recent outbreaks highlight the persistent risk of the disease, especially in areas with low vaccination coverage. Unvaccinated children are particularly vulnerable to contracting measles, which can result in severe complications such as pneumonia, encephalitis, and death. This paper examines the spread of measles in unvaccinated children, identifying key factors contributing to outbreaks, and explores preventive measures to address this public health threat. The analysis includes a review of global vaccination coverage, the impact of vaccine hesitancy, and the importance of achieving herd immunity. The findings underscore the necessity of targeted vaccination campaigns, public health interventions, and increased awareness to prevent the further spread of measles.
