The study of rheological properties and development of the technology for “Fuzipan-derma” gel for the treatment of acne

Abstract
Aim. To develop the composition and technology of a new medicinal product for external use with fusidic acid; to substantiate the optimal ratio of the gelation agents selected (xanthan gum and sodium alginate) with the help of rheological studies. Materials and methods. Generally accepted structural-mechanical, physicochemical and technological methods of research were used in the work. Results. The previous studies proved that a stable system was obtained by introducing the alcoholic solution of fusidic acid into the gel base consisting of natural gelation agents (xanthan gum and sodium alginate). In order to create a stable gel with the given properties the experimental samples with different ratios of the gelation agents selected were studied. It was found that all samples were stable, the pH value and mechanical stability changed insignificantly. With the help of structural and mechanical studies the sample of the gel with the ratio of xanthan gum and sodium alginate of 1.5 : 0.5 was chosen. This gel had the best consumer, extrusion and technological properties. The rational technology of the gel was developed and included 5 main stages of the manufacturing process and three stages of packaging. Conclusions. The gel for external use with fusidic acid and panthenol based on the gel composition of xanthan gum and sodium alginate in the ratio of 1.5 : 0.5, respectively, has been developed. It has been found that this composition with APIs selected is stable and has satisfactory consumer, structural, mechanical and technological properties.
