The study of the phenomenon of historical memory in Ukraine: historiographical aspects

Abstract
The article analyzes the study of Ukrainian scientists of the problems functioning of the historical memory of the nation and the extent of the problem elaboration at the present stage of development of historiography. The purpose of this publication is the analysis of the basic research of historical memory functioning in Ukraine since independence. The publication shows that the years of independence Ukrainian scientists have made the first steps in understanding the functioning of historical memory. There are different views on the nature of historical memory and historical memory mechanisms of influence on the formation of national identity and national consciousness. This problematic need to be extended and more in-depth studies in future studies.
