THE TEACHER TRAINING IN HISTORY IN THE CRITICAL MULTICULTURALISM STRAND: challenges and curricular perspectives

Abstract
The text presents results of the doctoral research and approaches the curriculum of the formation of the teachers of history in the critical multicultural perspective. The starting point was the questioning about the curriculum of the Degree in History, in order to understand if it provides a training of teachers focused on pedagogical practice in the area of critical multiculturalism. In addition to this understanding, it was also sought to identify the view of teacher trainers, in a critical multicultural perspective, on teacher education in History. From the theoretical outline on multiculturalism and teacher training, we present the analyzes and discussions of the data collected. The development of the research was based on the qualitative approach, using as procedures of approximation with reality the analysis of questionnaires with professors of Degree in History of the State of Espírito Santo. As a result, there were multicultural gaps in the curricula of the mentioned Degree, leading to a lack of training in the reflection of cultural diversity and the epistemological and sociocultural foundations necessary for a multicultural critical formation, as well as indicating points to subsidize curricular paths of the history.
