The Tobacco Endgame Supported by the Principles of Human Rights and Bioethics
Journal Title: Annals of Bioethics & Clinical Applications - Year 2022, Vol 5, Issue 3
Abstract
During the 56th World Health Assembly in 2003, the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) was adopted with the goal of addressing the global tobacco epidemic. The FCTC represents the largest international treaty adopted by the United Nations and the first major public health treaty of the WHO. Parties to the FCTC have made a commitment and a responsibility to the international community to implement and enforce the normative content of tobacco control actions that aim to reduce both the demand and the supply of tobacco.
