THE USE OF VIRTUAL REALITY IN THE INTERIOR DESIGN
Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2017, Vol 10, Issue 51
Abstract
Space is the space and occupancy that separates man from certain boundaries that surround it, that allows life to continue within these boundaries, and that can be perceived by others. The fact that the space can be perceived by others can be achieved by defining the space between the objects that make up the space. The purpose of this work is to make the space defined and to use the virtual reality in the design process of this space. The "virtuality" that comes from Latin "virtualis" is used for things that do not exist but are considered to exist with delusions. Virtual reality is defined as the technology that allows three dimensional animations and shapes created using computers to interact with these objects in addition to giving them the feeling of being in a real environment in the mind of the individual by using technological tools. We can also describe virtual reality as the interaction between man and machine, starting from many definitions that express the concept of virtual reality. The main features of virtual reality include enhancing the attention of the student, providing experientiality, interactivity, narrative objectivity, attaching importance to the senses, enhancing self-confidence, embody abstract concepts, and authenticity. In recent years, virtually every area from virtual reality technology to health education, from entertainment to manufacturing has come to the fore with many disciplines related to design in recent days. It has been observed that the use of virtual reality applications in the design area increases the efficiency of the designer and reduces the probability of errors in the design process to a minimum. It is expected that virtual reality applications, which have recently attracted the interest of designers and increased their motivation, will play an important role in the design disciplines.
