The Value of X-Ray Methods in the Study of Structural and Functional State of the Femur at Hip Dysplasia in Infants (Literature Review)

Journal Title: Біль. Суглоби. Хребет - Year 2016, Vol 2, Issue 22

Abstract

The article presents an overview of existing X-ray methods for the study of structural and functional changes of the bone tissue in infants. It is known that osteopenic conditions are found in children even in normal state, and their cause can be established not always. In some cases, they may be determined by underdevelopment of the bone tissue according to the age, which is typical for the different types of dysplasia, and hip dysplasia — the most common orthopedic pathology of childhood. The normative indexes of bone mineral density of the femur in infants are not described in the literature, and many foreign and domestic publications show the need for creation of national reference databases in each country. Established indexes of age norm allows to assess more objectively the state of the bone tissue, to identify bone loss adequately and timely and to form risk groups for osteoporosis later in life.
