Abstract
Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby depicts the whole tragic life of Gatsby and unravels the vanishing of the American Dream in 1920s’ America. In this novel, the image of green light serves as an important clue and carries deep meanings with its own. Through the analysis of those deep meaning—especially the symbolic meanings—of the image of green light, it will be easy to comprehend the author’s purpose, the theme of this book and its practical significance reflected by the novel.
