Abstract
In this paper the author gives an analysis of the philosophical views of Ukrainian writer and thinker M. M. Kotsiubynsky. It is shown the existential orientation of his looks and it is conducted the parallels between the main content of Kotsiubynsky’s existentialism and the conceptual principles of this philosophy in the West: the meaning of human life; freedom; revolt of the individual and the problem of the absurd existence, loneliness and fear; relation of human nature with the natural world; search of spiritual peace. The position of the thinker is refracted through the features of the Ukrainian national character. He shows that in the Ukrainian the belief in a better life, nobility is an integral part of national mentality. Thinker admires not only the spirit but also the kindness of Ukrainians who are always ready to help his neighbour. In a new way M. Kotsiubynsky considers the problem of fear, which on the one hand, encourages people to bad actions, and on the other – justifies them, so is an alternative to the generosity, hard work, unselfishness of human behaviour. He also filles with a new content the problem of lonelines, defining a human solitude as a way to know herself, to restore the spiritual forces. M. Kotsiubynsky – master of the landscape. He revealing the beauty and grandeur of nature passes through it all human experiences.
