Journal Title: ІНОЗЕМНА ФІЛОЛОГІЯ - Year 2016, Vol 129, Issue
Abstract
The article analyses the theoretical principles that have had direct infl uence on playful nature of postmodern text. Postmodernism is considered as a controversial art style in culture and literature, which, accordingly, causes ambivalent attitude of both critics and readers. Postmodernism has developed its theoretical basis under the great infl uence of post-structuralist and post-Freudian theories. Play is observed as a universal category that unites contradictory ideas in postmodernism. The article exposes the connection between postmodernist worldview that means a playful attitude towards reality, and the specifi c playful creation of postmodernist texts. Playful world-view is understood as incredulity towards authorities and deconstruction of notions of fi xed truths and knowledge. The characteristic feature of postmodernist main tenets is pluralism. Special attention is paid to the problem of difference and marginality, which are plural, local and relative. Attention is also paid to the infl uence of deconstruction and decentration theories on the formation of conceptual integrity of postmodern poetics and esthetics. The article also focuses on the analysis of text and textuality concepts. The idea about textual nature of both the world and the human being is explained in detail, which makes it possible to understand the world from the literary and artistic point of view involving perpetual free play of signifi ers. In the broad sense, postmodernism brings forward the idea of relativity of knowledge, truth, morality, meaning and reality in general.
