Thermal Performance of Typical Residential Building in Karachi with Different Materials for Construction
Journal Title: Mehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology - Year 2016, Vol 35, Issue 2
Abstract
This research work deals with a study of a residential building located in climatic context of Karachi with the objective of being the study of thermal performance based upon passive design techniques. The study helps in reducing the electricity consumption by improving indoor temperatures. The existing residential buildings in Karachi were studied with reference to their planning and design, analyzed and evaluated. Different construction?s compositions of buildings were identified, surveyed and analyzed in making of the effective building envelops. Autodesk® Ecotect, 2011 was used to determine indoor comfort conditions and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Cooling) loads. The result of the research depicted significant energy savings of 38.5% in HVAC loads with proposed building envelop of locally available materials and glazing.

An Improved Data Model for Uncertain Data
Uncertain data can be categorized as imprecise data and probabilistic data. In each of these categories, the uncertainty can be found at different granularity levels. Conventional data models are developed for the purpos...
Vibration Analysis of Cracked Composite Laminated Plate: A Review
Composites are one of the rapidly consuming materials due to their utmost attractive applications ranging from the aerospace to the agricultural products. The composite structures usually experience vibration during serv...
3n-Point Quaternary Shape Preserving Subdivision Schemes
In this paper, an algorithm is defined to construct 3n-point quaternary approximating subdivision schemes which are useful to design different geometric objects in the field of geometric modeling. We are going to establi...
Methane Production by Anaerobic Digestion of Spent Wash in Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor
DSW (Distillery Spent Wash) is superfluous residual liquid waste produced during the process of alcohol production. It is one of the most critical environmental issues which cause pollution. Despite strictness of standar...
A Family of 6-Point n-Ary Interpolating Subdivision Schemes
We derive three-step algorithm based on divided difference to generate a class of 6-point n-ary interpolating sub-division schemes. In this technique second order divided differences have been calculated at specific posi...
