Three-dimensional dosimeter: Past until future
Journal Title: Scholars Academic Journal of Biosciences - Year 2015, Vol 3, Issue 5
Abstract
Abstract: In radiation therapy, an accurate dose measurement and a precise dose delivery to the tumor are directly associated with better treatment outcomes in terms of higher tumor control and lower post radiation therapy complications. Recently, gel dosimetry was developed into a powerful tool for radiotherapy treatment verification and quality assurance. This review summarizes development of gel dosimeter models through improvement in their sensitivity and uniformity as three- dimensional detectors. The most important characteristics as well as the limitations that can affect the performance of the gel dosimetry systems have been explained. An outline of both clinical and research contemporary applications is given particularly emphasizing new applications like brachytherapy, diagnostic radiology and radiobiological experiments. Review concludes through an overview of future directions in development of this important dosimetric tool revolving. Keywords: dosimeter, gel dosimetry, radiotherapy treatment, 3D dosimetry.

A Prospective Study of Antegrade intramedullary interlocking nailing versus DCP for humeral diaphyseal fractures
Humeral shaft fractures account for 5% of all fractures. Rigid immobilization of the humeral shaft is difficult in view of the gleno humeral articulation. Non surgical management of humeral shaft fractures are falling ou...
Modelling Of Wound Process Dynamics in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus In Addition To Vac-Therapy witha Discrete-Time Markov Chain
Abstract: The wound process in patients with diabetes mellitus in addition to VAC-therapy (Vacuum-assisted closure — VAC® therapy) is examined. The model of the biological system describing the wound process is built on...
Concentrations of Some Biochemical Parameters and Body Condition Scores in Cows with Retained Placenta and Dystocia
This study was undertaken to investigate the relationship between body condition score and blood levels of Ca, Mg, P, Glucose, Urea and Triglyceride and occurrence of retained placenta and dystocia in cows. Serum samples...
Acardiac twin presenting as obstructed labour: A case report
The twin reversed arterial perfusion (TRAP) sequence is a rare complication unique to multiple pregnancies. Here we report a case of a 24 year old primigravida who delivered first twin at a peripheral hospital and was re...
Isolation of Candida Species from Market Milk Samples
Milk is extremely liable to microbiological contamination. Yeasts like Candida can resist pasteurization thereby posing a threat to human health. Current research comprises collection of 80 market milk samples from thre...
