Three-Dimensional Printing-Generated Realistic Anatomy Models and Virtual Endoscopy-Enhanced Intravascular Assessment of Pathologies
Journal Title: Heart Research – Open Journal - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 1
Abstract
Three-dimensional (3D) printing has become a widely used technique showing many medical applications which range from orthopedics and maxillofacial surgery to cardiovascular disease and tumor imaging.1-10 Computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data-generated 3D printed realistic models have been confirmed to accurately replicate normal anatomical structures and depict pathological changes including a demonstration of complex pathologies such as complicated cardiovascular disease.7-11 3D printed models also serve as a useful tool for pre-surgical planning, simulation of surgical procedures, training medical students and young doctors, and enhancing patient-doctor communications.

Surgical Removal of Left Atrial Appendage Thrombus in a Patient with Acute Ischemic Stroke
Atrial fibrillation is a major risk factor for ischemic stroke. Left atrial appendage thrombus is responsible for the majority of cardioembolic stroke caused by atrial fibrillation. Left atrial appendage thrombus in a pa...
The Related Factors and Clinical Predictive Value of Left Atrial Spontaneous Echo Contrast in Patient with Nonvalvular Chronic Atrial Fibrillation
Background: To investigate left atrial or left atrial appendage spontaneous echo by transesophageal echocardiography for clinical risk assessment, providing an important basis for guiding treatment and so on. Methods: Se...
Inhibiting the Inhibitors, PTP1B as a Therapeutic Target in Myocardial Infarction
Biological systems self-regulate through cycles of activation and inactivation, the balance of which is critical in permitting or suppressing signaling cascades and their downstream consequences. Kinase signaling pathway...
Dimethyl Sulfoxide Reduces Microvascular Obstruction and Intramyocardial Hemorrhage in a Porcine Ischemia-Reperfusion Model
Background: Microvascular obstruction (MVO) and Intramyocardial hemorrhage (IMH) are associated with myocardial reperfusion injury and recognized as predictors of adverse left ventricular remodeling in acute myocardial i...
