Tissue Engineering: Emerging Concept in Oral Maxillofacial Reconstruction
Journal Title: Journal of Medical Science And clinical Research - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 8
Abstract
Tissue engineering or tissue regeneration is a multidisciplinary field with the perspective to replace tissue loss as a result of the traumatic defect, oncosurgery, or organ damage.(1) As an alternative to current surgical techniques developments in tissue regeneration using the gene therapy and stem cell research endeavor to develop cells, scaffolds and cell signaling molecules to rejuvenate large oral and maxillofacial tissue defect with accurate reproduction of normal tissue. One of the major challenges in front of maxillofacial surgeon is reconstruction of large tissue defect. A tissue engineering approach provides numerous prospective benefits, including a declination in donor site morbidity, a decrease in procedural sensitivity of the repair, and the capacity to intimately ape the in vivo tissue environment into recapitulate normal craniofacial development.

Functional Outcome of Intra-Articular Fractures of the Distal Humerus Treated with Open Reduction and Internal Fixation with Distal Humeral Locking Plates and Screws
We have assessed the functional outcome in patients who were treated with open reduction and internal fixation with anatomical locking plates and screws for intra-articular fractures of the distal Humerus. Data was colle...
Dengue Encephalitis Presenting as Complex Partial Status Epilepticus
Dengue is a potentially fatal acute febrile illness caused by infection with any of the four dengue viruses, DENV 1,2,3,4. Spectrum of disease may vary from asymptomatic infection to more fatal dengue haemorrhagic fever...
Profile and Drug Susceptibility Pattern of Gram Negative Bacterial Isolates - A Retrospective Institutional Study
Background: Antimicrobial resistance in bacteria is a growing problem though not a new phenomenon nor unexpected, especially in an environment where potent antibiotics are used very frequently. The drug resistant strains...
