to assess the cases of atopic dermatitis in young patients- A clinical study

Abstract

Background: Atopic dermatitis is one of the most common and burdensome diseases of childhood. The present study was conducted to assess the cases of Atopic dermatitis (AD). Materials & Methods: The present study was conducted on 280 patients of both genders. In all patient type of allergens, age group affected etc. was recorded. Results: Out of 280 patients, males were 130 and females were 150. Age group <10 years had 140 cases, 10-20 years had 110, 20-30 years had 20 patients and >30 years had 10 patients. The difference was significant (P< 0.05). Potential allergens were jewellery in 110 cases, cloths in 60, shoes in 65 and topical corticosteroids in 45. The difference was significant (P< 0.05). Conclusion: Atopic dermatitis is commonly occurring skin lesions in adults. Most common age group involved was <10 years.
