Tolerance potential of different species of Aspergillus as bioremediation tool - comparative analysis
Journal Title: Journal of Biodiversity and Environmental Sciences (JBES) - Year 2013, Vol 3, Issue 4
Abstract
Due to increase of industrialization in public and private sectors along with urbanization, are reflected in varying degree of pollution in the different compartment (water, soil and air) of environment. The present study has been carried out to understand the tolerance potential of different species of Aspergillus (Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Aspegillus fumigatus) isolated from agriculture soil of Kasur irrigated with water contaminated with sewage and industrial effluent. The degree of tolerance of fungi was measured by minimum inhibitory concentration in the presence of different concentrations of metals (Cr and Pb) and compared to control sample. Results are shown the variation in the tolerance level of different isolates of Aspergillus. Few isolates are tolerant, moderately tolerant and some are sensitive.

Evaluation of allelopathic effects of Calotropis procera against wheat (Triticum aestivum) using seedling vigor and germination indices
Many plants are known for their phytotoxic potential. Such plants tend to suppress the germination and normal growth processes in other plants under their effect. Calotropis procera is one of the most dominant weed plan...
The striking similarity among the molars of Listriodon and Deinotherium from the lower Siwaliks of Pakistan
The fossil teeth of Listriodon pentapotamiae and Deinotherium pentapotamiae have been collected from Dhok Bun Ameer Khatoon, Chinji and Lava; district Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan. These sites belong to Lower Siwaliks, Chin...
An assessment of nutrient, sediment and carbon fluxes to the Indus Delta
Nutrient and carbon flux play a significant role in the deltaic nourishment. These fluxes significantly involved in the stability of deltaic coast. Recent studies reflect that Indus River discharge is subtracted due to K...
Sustainability analysis on fisheries resources of tidal marsh in Barito Kuala district, South Kalimantan
Barito Kuala district is a region that is mainly composed of tidal marsh. Marsh area is a crucial area for agropolitan development on fisheries resources. With the current issues of land use converted function, we need...
Applied systems approach to wind erosion control engineering model
This study deals with the supplied systems approach to wind erosion and control engineering. Many humid regions of the world are damaged by wind erosion, wind distribution with height; wind erosion types, mechanics and...
