Tool Wear Monitoring using NNge Algorithm
Journal Title: International Journal of Mechanical and Production Engineering Research and Development (IJMPERD ) - Year 2019, Vol 9, Issue 5
Abstract
Cutting tools are required to do the necessary machining operations in the manufacturing Industry. Continuous machining operation causes the tool to degrade. The machining operation done using a worn-out tool will have a poor surface finish. The poor surface finish undermines the accuracy of the component. This can be solved by using online system condition monitoring tools which helps in reducing the tool maintenance cost all the while increasing the productivity. This paper presents the classification performance of the Nearest-neighbour-like algorithm using non-nested generalized exemplar (NNge). A set of statistical data extracted from vibration signals for both good and faulty conditions form the input to the algorithm. In the present study, the NNge algorithm is able to achieve 100% classification accuracy.

Design and Fabrication of a Low-Cost Assistive Device to Support the Basic Movements for Elderly People
Generally, the musculo-skeletal movements become weak in the elderly people (aged above 70) and then even the basic hand movements such as lifting necessary objects and pushing/pulling activities become a very difficult...
Design of a Four Throw Reciprocating Compressor Frame for Natural Gas
A reciprocating compressor is a mechanical device that is used to increase the pressure of a gas by reducing its volume. Compressed natural gas (CNG) is a fuel, which can be used in place of gasoline, diesel fuel and pro...
Low Speed Impact Test of Heavy Duty Bumper
Bumpers are basic parts introduced at the front and backsides of a vehicle to secure, the auto body, frill, and travellers amid low speed impacts. A bumper is a shield made of steel, aluminium, elastic, or plastic that i...
Fabrication and Charecterisation of Aluminum-Graphite Composite Material
Matel matix composites have better properties and performance, compared to the pure metals that justifies their added cost. The present work includes fabrication of metal matrix composite having Aluminium as a base metal...
