TOOLS FOR THE SUPPLIER AND ELECTRICITY TARIFFS CHOOSING

Abstract
Introducing by Directive of the European Parliament 26.06.2003 the third party access (TPA) enables the energy consumers a free choice of electricity suppliers. The aim of the document was to increase the competition in the energy market, thereby reducing electricity prices. In practice, in 2013, from among 15.6 million eligible electricity consumers, recipients using TPA accounted for only 1.2%. The article describes the causes of the little interest in the supplier and electricity tariffs switching. There is also presented the constructive assessment of the solutions available on the market, that simplify the electricity supplier switching. The original script of the electricity calculator was also described. This tool allows the consumer to assess accurately the benefits from the change of the electricity tariff and energy supplier.
