Journal Title: WORLD JOURNAL PHARMACY AND PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCE - Year 2019, Vol 8, Issue 6

Abstract

Chronic venous ulcer affects seventy to ninety percent of the patients with valvular insufficiency. This disease may be hereditary or not, causing prolonged health problems. As a chronic disease, its treatment is longer and after healing relapses can occur in 40% of the treated patients. Phytotherapy is a traditional therapeutic practice, used for the treatment of several diseases, as well as in chronic wounds. The objective of this study was to review the literature on the use of Aloe vera in the treatment of venous ulcers, especially as an alternative to the sulphonamide therapy. From the analysis of the literature review it was concluded that Aloe vera has an excellent healing property, being a viable therapy for the treatment of chronic venous ulcers.
