TOROIDAL MODELS OF MAGNETIC FIELD WITH TWISTED STRUCTURE
Journal Title: Solar-Terrestrial Physics - Year 2019, Vol 5, Issue 2
Abstract
We present and discuss properties of the following magnetic field models in a magnetic cloud: Miller and Turner solution, modified Miller–Turner solution, Romashets–Vandas toroidal and integral models, and Krittinatham–Ruffolo model. Helicity of the magnetic field in all the models is the main feature of magnetic clouds. The first three models describe the magnetic field inside an ideal torus. In the integral model, parameters of a generating torus ambiguously determine the volume and form of the magnetic field region. In the Krittinatham–Ruffolo model, the cross-section radius of the torus is variable, thereby it corresponds more closely to the real form of magnetic clouds in the inner heliosphere. These models can be used to interpret in-situ observations of the magnetic flux rope, to study a Forbush decrease in magnetic clouds and transport effects of solar energetic particles injected into a coronal mass ejection.

RESULTS OF WORK OF NEW SPECTROPOLARIMETER FOR SOLAR RADIO EMISSION OBSERVATIONS IN THE RANGE 50–500 MHZ
Ground-based observations within meter radio range are of importance for understanding processes occurring in the solar corona. We present concepts, block diagram, and results of first observations of the Solar Spectropo...
OBSERVATIONS OF SMALL-SCALE ENERGETIC EVENTS IN THE SOLAR TRANSITION REGION: EXPLOSIVE EVENTS, UV BURSTS, AND NETWORK JETS
In this paper, we review observational aspects of three common small-scale energetic events in the solar transition region (TR), namely TR explosive events, ultraviolet bursts and jets. These events are defined in either...
REVIEW AND COMPARISON OF MHD WAVE CHARACTERISTICS AT THE SUN AND IN EARTH’S MAGNETOSPHERE
Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) waves play a crucial role in the plasma processes of stellar atmospheres and planetary magnetospheres. Wave phenomena in both media are known to have similarities and unique traits typical of ea...
FINE STRUCTURE EVENTS IN MICROWAVE EMISSION DURING SOLAR MINIMUM
The solar minimum is a period with a relatively smaller number of sunspots and solar eruptions, and has been less studied before. Since the radio signal rapidly responds to the change of solar plasma and magnetic field,...
FORCE BALANCE IN CURRENT SHEETS IN COLLISIONLESS PLASMA
In this paper, we derive a divergent form of the force balance equation for collisionless plasma in the quasineutrality approximation, in which the electric field and current density are excluded. For a stationary spatia...
