Tourism as a type of business on the rural territories

Abstract
In the paper different approaches to the interpretation of the essence of the concept of «tourism» are presented. The basic classification types of tourism, in particular: by the organizational forms and the targeted markets are showed. The definition of rural agricultural tourism are done and three varieties of modern rural agricultural tourism in Ukraine, including: agritourism, rural green tourism, ecotourism is highlighted. Based on the synthesis of different scientific approaches the basic functions of business activities in tourism are determined. The basic directions of the state policy in the sector of tourism in Ukraine are defined.
