Towards Smart and Sustainable Future Cities Based on Internet of Things for Developing Countries: What Approach for Africa?
Journal Title: EAI Endorsed Transactions on Internet of Things - Year 2018, Vol 4, Issue 13
Abstract
This article aims first at reviewing and discussing previous works on Internet of Things based sustainable smart cities. Secondly, it proposes an ideological and technical framework that better suits communities in future cities. At the same time, we provide a reference model that can generally apply to developing countries and specifically to Africa. This work represents a first step towards future cities and should at the same time constitute a reference base for researchers working on the same topic. Some Indexes have been leveraged to carry out this work.

BLE or IEEE 802.15.4: Which Home IoT Communication Solution is more Energy-Efficient?
IEEE 802.15.4 (used by Zigbee, 6LoWPAN and Thread) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) are two widely used wireless standards for ultra low power IoT (Internet of Things) technologies and smart home applications. In this arti...
A Partial-differential Approximation for Spatial Stochastic Process Algebra
We study a spatial framework for process algebra with ordinary differential equation (ODE) semantics. We consider an explicit mobility model over a 2D lattice where processes may walk to neighbouring regions independentl...
Innovative services for informing visually impaired persons in indoor environments
Movement and informing visually impaired persons is difficult because mobile application solutions and services are unable to work in indoors environments (location based service using GPS technology). Main precondition...
SAND: Smart and Adaptable Networking Design Using Virtual Slicing over Software-Deļ¬ned Network
The importance of reliable and adaptable networks has become increasingly relevant with the escalation of connectivity in our lives. The growth of streaming of entertainment and development of always online software has...
Stretchable and Highly Conductive Carbon Nanotube-Graphene Hybrid Yarns for Wearable Systems
Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) have emerged as potential candidates for replacement of conventional metals due to their significant mechanical, electrical, thermal properties and non-oxidizing abilities [1, 2]. The density of C...
