Towards Verbalizing SPARQL Queries in Arabic
Journal Title: Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research - Year 2016, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
With the wide spread of Open Linked Data and Semantic Web technologies, a larger amount of data has been published on the Web in the RDF and OWL formats. This data can be queried using SPARQL, the Semantic Web Query Language. SPARQL cannot be understood by ordinary users and is not directly accessible to humans, and thus they will not be able to check whether the retrieved answers truly correspond to the intended information need. Driven by this challenge, natural language generation from SPARQL data has recently attracted a considerable attention. However, most existing solutions to verbalize SPARQL in natural language focused on English and Latin-based languages. Little effort has been made on the Arabic language which has different characteristics and morphology. This work aims to particularly help Arab users to perceive SPARQL queries on the Semantic Web by translating SPARQL to Arabic. It proposes an approach that gets a SPARQL query as an input and generates a query expressed in Arabic as an output. The translation process combines both morpho-syntactic analysis and language dependencies to generate a legible and understandable Arabic query. The approach was preliminary assessed with a sample query set, and results indicated that 75% of the queries were correctly translated into Arabic.

A Compact Tri-Band Bandpass Filter with High Out-of-Band Rejection
This paper presents a planar tri-band bandpass filter with high out-of-band rejection over a wide band. The filter is based on two pairs of λ/4 resonators embedded inside an open loop ring resonator without any size incr...
Numerical Study of the Effect of the Penetration of a Crack in the Matrix of a Composite
In this numerical investigation, the effect of the penetration of a crack in a matrix reinforced by aluminum silicon carbide particles in a composite is studied in order to determine the thermo-mechanical behavior under...
Discharges Classification using Genetic Algorithms and Feature Selection Algorithms on Time and Frequency Domain Data Extracted from Leakage Current Measurements
A number of 387 discharge portraying waveforms recorded on 18 different 150 kV post insulators installed at two different Substations in Crete, Greece are considered in this paper. Twenty different features are extracted...
Leakage Reduction in Water Distribution Systems with Efficient Placement and Control of Pressure Reducing Valves Using Soft Computing Techniques
Reduction of leakages in a water distribution system (WDS) is one of the major concerns of water industries. Leakages depend on pressure, hence installing pressure reducing valves (PRVs) in the water network is a success...
Compact Wideband Microstrip Patch Antenna based on High Impedance Surface
A compact single probe feed asymmetrical semicircular fractal boundary patch antenna based on HIS (high impedance surface) is proposed for wide bandwidth at Wi-Fi band. Circular polarization operation can be obtained by...
