Abstract

The article deals with the process of formation and subsequent development of houses of representative architecture of Kharkov in the period when it was the first capital of Soviet Ukraine in 1920-1930s. It was established that houses with Kurdoners arose in the historical center in the limited areas of building site. Their appearance is due to the influence of the tendencies in the formation of the government center on Liberty Square in the style of constructivism and its further transformation into pseudo-classicism in connection with the manifestations of the centralization of power in the USSR.
