Abstract

TCM has been playing an important role in disease treatment for thousands of years. This study presents that it may contribute to the development of precision medicine in China, if the prevention, diagnosis and treatment in TCM develop to precision. Precision medicine will become a hot issue in future’s medical researches. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been playing an important role in disease treatment for thousands of years. Developing precision medicine also needs TCM. Preventing disease should adjust according to time, circumstances and the variability of an individual treatment with TCM. The TCM disease name, syndrome differentiation type, the name of the syndrome, and syndrome diagnostic criteria should be standardized and unified. It needs further studies about precision corresponding of prescription and medicine, the correspondence of prescription and syndrome, the relation of dose-effect/toxic-effect in TCM, new drug design and creation, improving the quality standard of TCM, so that TCM may achieve the aim of precision prevention, precision diagnosis and precision treatment.
