Transdiscal Core Biopsy of Aortocaval Lymph Node: A Case Report
Journal Title: American Journal of Interventional Radiology - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 7
Abstract
The transdiscal approach has been described for nerve block and neurolysis of the hypogastric and celiac plexuses for chronic pain relief; however reports utilizing transdiscal approach for biopsy of aortocaval lymph nodes or other retroperitoneal masses are scarce. Traditional posterior paravertebral, lateral, or anterior approaches are often not technically feasible for core biopsy of aortocaval lesions due overlying bowel, organs, or vessels. In aortocaval or other retroperitoneal lesions inaccessible by traditional techniques the transdiscal method is invaluable in providing a linear approach that avoids the major vessels, organs, and bowel and allows for core biopsy. This case report demonstrates the use of transdiscal approach for core biopsy of aortocaval lesions otherwise inaccessible by traditional approaches.

Measurement of Inferior Vena Cava to Shunt Distance in Deciding Access Route for Balloon-Occluded Retrograde Transvenous Obliteration Procedure: A Pilot Study
Purpose: Why and how to decide whether femoral or jugular approach should be used for shunt catheterization for a successful balloon-occluded retrograde transvenous obliteration (BRTO) procedure. Materials and Methods: S...
Computed Tomography-guided Sharp Needle Venous Recanalization of Chronic Clot
This article outlines a case performed at our instutition that involved direct sharp recanalization of the superior vena cava (SVC) as a way to bypass chronic venous thrombus using a combination of ultrasound and CT guid...
Revascularization of chronic occlusive disease of a right pulmonary artery graft
Anomalous aortic origin of the left coronary artery (AAOLCA) is a rare occurrence. This anomaly may lead to myocardial ischemia and, therefore, surgical repair is recommended to improve long-term survival in these patien...
Endovascular Repair of Axillary Artery Transection with a Stent Graft following Blunt Trauma
Transection injuries of the axillary artery are rare and typically involve surgical repair. This case describes an emergent endovascular treatment option, using a stent graft, in a patient that was deemed as high risk fo...
Imaging-guided Percutaneous Large-Bore Suprapubic Cystostomy, a Safe Bladder Diversion Alternative
Suprapubic catheter placement is a common method of bladder diversion. To date, there are limited reports describing safe placement of large-bore (18–28 F) catheters as smaller catheters often clog and require upsizing p...
