TRANSFORMATION OF THE MATRIMONIAL-FAMILY RELATIONS OF UKRAINIANS FROM THE END OF THE PREINDUSTRIAL PERIOD: SOCIOCULTURAL MEASUREMENT

Abstract
The given article analyzes matrimonial-family relations that existed in Ukrainian society at the end of XIX — early XX centuries. Was the family institution so ideal as we imagine it? The character of these relations, the main values, customs and traditions that were widespread in the matrimonial sphere of the past Ukrainian society are analyzed, the influence of power and older generation on intimate relations are investigated as well as transformational and innovational processes that took place in this sphere during the given period of time. The answers on questions about chastity, reasons of getting married, extra-marital pregnancy, family conflicts, bith-rate, upbringing are given. The problem of double standards is revealed.
