Translational status of the notion “genre” in modern translation studies

Abstract
The article deals with different approaches to investigation of the notion “genre” in modern translation studies. Special attention is paid to different definitions of the notion in national and foreign translation studies as well as to the identification of key peculiarities of this phenomenon. The research has determined that understanding of genre as a structural hierarchy has shifted for a cognitive one.
