Treatment Modalities in Prostate Cancer

Journal Title: Nükleer Tıp Seminerleri - Year 2018, Vol 4, Issue 3

Abstract

Prostate cancer is the most common malignancy in men. Depending on the stage of the disease, the risk of death from disease is less than 5%. Approximately 185.000 new cases of prostate cancer are diagnosed each year in the US. Approximately one in six men is diagnosed with prostate cancer throughout his life, but only one in every 35 people dies. There is a wide range of treatment options including active surveillance, surgical intervention, radiotherapy, hormone therapy, chemotherapy, and local intervention. The right decision is made after evaluating the stage of the disease and the patient’s comorbid condition with multidisciplinary approach and then is discussed with the patient.
