TREATMENT OF THE PATIENT WITH GREATER TROCHANTERIC PAIN SYNDROME

Abstract

Introduction One of the most common diseases, which in recent time patients visit doctors or physio therapists is a pain in hip. It deteriorates si gnificantly gait, general fitness and well-being of the population. Osteoarthritis of the hip or sciatica can cause symp- toms in the form of hip pain, that is why they are often confused. They differ in the location of the pain and the direction of its radiation. The reason for these symptoms can also be trochanteric syndrome (GTPS) or gluteal muscles attachment enthesopa- thies, referring to median and small gluteal muscles to the greater trochanter of femur. The development of disease is influenced by the type of performed work (usually in a sitting position) and the nature of performed sport, especially with- out adequate preparation for its training. The greater trochanteric pain syndrome is rarely recognized by doctors or physiotherapists (Brinks i et al. 2011). Aim Presentation of the patient’s therapy with the greater trochanteric pain syndrome in whom the treatment was introduced. Materials and methods The patient, female aged 34 years partici-pated in the study. Chronic pain in the late- ral thigh was reported. The precise medical history and clinical trials characteristic for the disorder were carried out. Then there were carried out the fascial musculoskeletal therapy in the form of deep tissue massage, the relaxation postisometric procedures (PIR), as well as “stretching” exercises. Results This treatment provided a positive effect for the patient, the almost complete abolishing of pain symptom and an increase in active mobility of the lower extremity. Conclusion The use of described therapies can have a significant impact on the treatment of enthesopathy in areas of small and medium gluteal as well as the relaxation of muscle tensor fasciae latae.
