TRENDS IN SURGICAL ROBOTICS
Journal Title: ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNICAL SCIENCES - APPLIED MECHANICS - Year 2013, Vol 58, Issue 1
Abstract
Surgical Robotics today is essentially about two families of devices, namely telemanipulators and simulators for mini-invasive (endoscopic) procedures. In both cases, the user-interface, i.e. the “joystick” to be manipulated by the surgeon is one of the key elements. Today’s commercial telemanipulators still rely almost exclusively on visual feedback only. Some surgery training simulators already have haptic (or force-) feedback. It is only a question of time until most surgical robots will have haptic feedback. In this contribution, we describe trends of surgical robotics with special emphasis on the possibilities and the significance of haptic man-machine interface. Potential synergies with cognitive neuroscience are highlighted.

ANALYSIS OF TRAFFIC NOISE FROM A MAIN ROAD CROSSING A CITY
The impact of road traffic on the environment is practically determined by a calculation procedure. Reliable calculation results require reliable sources determination. The theme of this study was to prepare the noise ma...
EXPERIMENTAL AND THEORETICAL ANALYSIS OF NOVEL TELESCOPIC DEVICES FOR EARTHQUAKE PROTECTION
The telescopic SERB devices are compact mechanical devices designed for bracing isolation systems. These devices can provide important dissipation of the seismic energy and can generate the necessary force to prevent the...
ANALYTICAL AND NUMERICAL STUDIES OF FORMABILITY OF METAL/POLYMER/METAL SANDWICH SHEETS
The aim of this study is to analyze formability of three-layer metal/polymer/metal sandwich sheets. For this purpose, forming limit curves (FLCs) of sandwich sheets with particular configurations were determined using tw...
CHECKING ROBUSTNESS FOR A CONCRETE ROADWAY VIADUCT
Experts’ pursuits in constructions are connected now with the structural robustness’ notions and how to prevent the partial, full or disproportioned collapse. The question: “What is robustness?” has by far no unitary and...
ON THE SOFT ROBOTICS CONSTITUTIVE LAWS
Soft robotics is a class of hard and soft robots that contain a rigid internal structure and nonrigid body parts. The elastic components consist of nanostructured materials which exhibit new features such as the echoes r...
