TRI-AXIAL TESTS FOR BRITTLE MATERIALS: MOTIVATION, TECHNIQUE, RESULTS
Journal Title: Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports - Year 2005, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
The aim of the paper is to explain the experimental technique used in tri-axial material tests and to supply new and more general experimental data on deformability and fracture of ceramics and cementitious composites. Such experimental data are necessary to formulate theoretical models capable to describe the mechanical behaviour of brittle rocklike materials. The program of experiments consisted of two different tests performed under tri-axial loading and also of uni-axial compression that supplied preliminary data necessary to calibrate the material. The second objective of this study is to present the potentialities of own phenomenological model based on continuum damage mechanics and on theory of tensor function representation that can be used to describe the response of brittle rock-like material subjected to tri-axial state of stress.

THE PENALTY AND LAGRANGE MULTIPLIER METHODS IN THE FRICTIONAL 3D BEAM-TO-BEAM CONTACT PROBLEM
This paper is concerned with the frictional contact between beams. The purpose is to compare the results obtained by the penalty and Lagrange multiplier methods. The advantages and disadvantages of both methods are gener...
CRACKING IN CONCRETE NEAR JOINTS IN STEELCONCRETE COMPOSITE SLAB
In this paper results of the experimental tests of four full-scale composite steel-concrete elements are reported. In the steel-concrete composite elements, a steel beam was connected with a slab cast on profiled sheetin...
ANALYSIS OF STRESS IN STEEL AND CONCRETE IN CFST PUSH-OUT TEST SAMPLES
The paper presents the analysis of stress in steel and concrete in CFST composite elements subjected to push-out tests. Two analytical models of stress distribution are presented. The bond at the interface between steel...
Coking plant wastewater treatment in integrated systems combining volume coagulation and advanced oxidation with pressure membrane techniques
The article compares the efficiencies of coke plant wastewater treatment in the integrated systems that combine physicochemical and chemical purification methods with ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis. The wastewater t...
PROBLEM OF DELAMINATION IN RC BEAMS STRENGTHENED BY FRP WITH RHEOLOGICAL MODEL OF ADHESIVE LEYER
This paper deals with one of the most dangerous failure modes in layered structures, namely delamination. The strengthening layer is modelled by a solid-shell finite element. The mechanical modelling of delamination onse...
