Trzy opowieści o (nie)płodności

Journal Title: Przegląd Humanistyczny - Year 2015, Vol 59, Issue 1

Abstract

This article analyzes the ways of operationalisation of the concept of nature in the discourses on infertility, mainly in contemporary Poland. The conclusions presented are the effect of the studies on the structure of three stories on infertility: one of them formally tells about the order of nature (online streaming of breeding season of a little owl), two stories discuss the order of culture (medical in vitro practices and naprotechnology). In all three narratives of infertility/reproductive failure (animal and human) the concept of nature plays an important role, which in these contexts reveals its capacity and openness to different, sometimes contradictory, meanings.
