Turnout Design of Same-side Curved Track for Straddle Tourism Monorail
Journal Title: Urban Mass Transit - Year 2024, Vol 27, Issue 7
Abstract
Objective The tourism rail project at a scenic area is a single-line route. To enhance tourists transportation efficiency, it is required to arrange two sets of single-opening curved track turnout symmetrically within the existing curved sections. Therefore, it is necessary to design a turnout for same-side curved track to solve this practical engineering problem. Method Initially, the design requirements for the turnout are investigated, and the basic alignment of the same-side curved track turnout is determined. Various turnout types are compared, considering factors such as turnout action time, support form, and landscape design requirements. Design principles and key points of alignment are proposed, and parameters such as kinetic energy loss, unbalanced centrifugal acceleration, and unbalanced centrifugal acceleration increment are evaluated. The alignment and scheme designs are completed by considering factors like the alignment of the existing line, the installation space and method of turnout to meet the requirements of performance indicators and specific design needs of the turnout. Finite element analysis is conducted on the main components of the turnout based on factors including train load. Result & Conclusion The recommended turnout type is a single-crossing replacement beam type same-side curved turnout, which offers advantages such as simple and reliable structure, and high technical-economic efficiency, meeting the special requirements for turnout arrangement.
