Two aberrant polar arteries to right kidney: A case report
Journal Title: International Journal of Anatomical Variations - Year 2017, Vol 10, Issue 2
Abstract
This study intends to describe an anatomical variation found in a routine dissection of a male cadaver. The main renal artery had originated in the abdominal part of the aorta artery and followed his course until its entrance on the renal hilum; however instead of a rectilinear trajectory from the aorta it had a descending and quite angular trajectory. From the main renal artery arises an anomalous polar artery that enters in the inferior polo of the right kidney. This anomalous artery starts 51,88 mm after the origin of the main renal artery. On a lower level, at the same height as the aorta bifurcation arise another anomalous polar artery that enters in the renal hilum following a rectilinear trajectory until the inferior polo of the right kidney. There is a vast range of branches that supply the superior and inferior polo of the kidneys originating directly from the aorta or from the main renal artery and that is widely described in literature, however there is no general agreement between the different authors about the nomenclature used in the description of each case.

An unusual bilateral variation of the splenius capitis muscle: A case report
A bilateral variation of splenius capitis muscle was identified in a formalinfixed 25-week-old male human fetus during routine dissections at Mersin University, Medicine Faculty, and Department Anatomy laboratory. The va...
Arteria lusoria, truncus bicaroticus, variant left vertebral artery
The normal aorta has three branches from its arch, the brachiocephalic trunk, the left common carotid and the left subclavian artery. Variations in the branching pattern of the aortic arch are not uncommon. We report a c...
First report of a “latissimo-cleidocostal” muscle on the anterolateral thoracic wall
During routine cadaveric dissection of the thorax and upper limb in a clinical gross anatomy course, we identified an unusual, supernumerary muscle in the right torso of a 91 year-old, Caucasian male. This consisted of a...
Simultaneous iliacus and psoas muscle variations
Dissection of a 98-year-old female cadaver identified three previously unrecorded simultaneous variations in the iliac region. A variant iliacus muscle originated in the iliac fossa and then split at the insertion point...
Dissection of spinalis capitis and implications for osteopathic treatment
The spinalis cervicis and capitis muscles are small components of the erector spinae group. These muscles are highly variable, and when present, they are typically asymmetric and often fused with other muscles. Herein, w...
