TYPES OF PHRASAL VERBS IN ENGLISH (THEORY AND PRACTICE)

Abstract
The peculiarities of the use of phrasal verbs are given in the scientific article. The classification of phrasal verbs according to different classification features is carried out. Consequently, there are several types of phrasal verbs that can be represented by such constructs: type 1. verb + preposition (look after); type 2. verb + adverb (give up); type 3. verb + adverb + preposition (get down to). The author notes that the phrasal verb is a purely English linguistic phenomenon, and therefore it is difficult to study and understand for foreign speakers. It is concluded that the main criterion for distinguishing phrasal verbs may be the degree of semantic unity of components, the divisibility or indivisibility of a phrasal verb, the presence or absence of a complement.
