ULTRASONIC PROPERTIES OF ANCIENT CERAMIC MATERIALS WITH POROUS STRUCTURE
Journal Title: Journal of Science And Arts - Year 2010, Vol 13, Issue 2
Abstract
This paper reports a new method of estimating mechanical properties of ancient ceramic materials from the ultrasonic properties. The methodology is based on the observation that the ratio of normalized value of Young's modulus is a function of porosity only and varies with longitudinal velocity. The ultrasonic velocity measurements have been used as a non-destructive means to determine the moduli of materials. It may be mentioned here that sometimes the measurement of ultrasonic properties of ceramic fragments creates difficulties due to fragility of the compact. The applicability of the method has been evaluated in terms of experimental data reported in the literature.

ON THE SPEED OF CONVERGENCE OF THE SEQUENCES
The study of any nontrivial convergence of a sequence of real numbers conducts to the problem of finding the limit but also to the problem of the speed of this convergence. This speed of convergence is characterized by t...
A REFINEMENT OF HOLDER’S AND ITS REVERSE INEQUALITY USING AN INEQUALITY OF N. MINCULETE
In this paper we will give two refinements for the Holder’s inequality and its reverse using two refinements of the Kittaneh-Manasrah inequality presented by N. Minculete.
A HISTORY OF ZERO
One of the commonest questions which the readers of this archive ask is: Who discovered zero? Why then have we not written an article on zero as one of the first in the archive? The reason is basically because of the dif...
ON THE REPRESENTATION OF A H1 (a, b) DISTRIBUTION THAT FULFILS u (a) = 0
We define the closed cone of increasing functions and represent each u as a sum of its projection on cone and the remaining part. We then define a scalar product and prove that the induced norm convergence implies the un...
AUTOMATIC SYSTEM FOR ANALYSIS OF METABOLIC DISEASE
Echography science plays an important role in medicine and life sciences. Echography analysis is a modern technique, effective and non-invasive, widely used in diagnosis and medical investigation. The steatosis (fatty) l...
