Abstract
This paper is inscribed in studies, which discuss the re-significances that are happening in contemporary material culture, in an order of interaction between species of nature that compose this culture and the humans. Because of this, this paper describes the cycles of cassava in the State of Pará. There it lays down networks of interactions with and among the subjects that transform it into material and symbolic goods, specifically in the city of Belém where a phenomenon of the region occurs. This phenomenon is the singularization and re-signification of cassava when making tucupi (duck in the tucupi) and maniva (maniçoba), collectivized at the Círo’s lunch of Our Lady of Nazareth. This paper aims to describe and analyze this phenomenon considering the processes operated in the ritual cycles of cassava and its transformation in gifts at the ritual banquet of the Círio’s Lunch. The Theoretical arguments dialoguewith the epistemic propositions of Maués (2016), Appadurai(2008) and Kopytoff (2008). Field observation and secondary data analysis were the paths allowed for data collection.
