Abstract
În contextul dezvoltării relaţiilor economice, construcţia unui sistem care să ofere informaţii privind produsul intern brut, avuţia naţională, implicaţiile politicii fiscale şi fluxurile reale a creat baza pentru dezvoltarea studiilor economice şi acumularea de informaţii la nivelul statului. Eforturile în această direcţie au fost numeroase şi îşi au rădăcina şi în cercetările ştiinţifice ale lui Antoine-Laurent de Lavoisier, care pentru prima dată a dezvoltat conceptele şi metodele specifice contabilităţii naţionale. A fost un precursor al gândirii economice moderne.
