United Europe: Historical Origins and Perspectives

Abstract
The article is devoted to the historical origins and roots of the United Europe. It is found, that there were such main predecessors of European Union, as Ancient Rome, Charlemagne’s Empire, Holy Roman Empire, Empire of Napoleon. The great role of violence and elites in the processes of formation and functioning of state and law was emphasized. It was found, that the main difference between modern European Union and its predecessors is its confederative, but not imperial essence. There was expressed the assumption, that in future, depending on the EU’s functions and their realization, European Union will transform into a federative state or will disintegrate.
