University Students' Use of Internet and its Relation with Assessment of Online Romantic Relationships

Abstract

This study aims to identify the use of Yarmouk University students for the Internet and its motives and the relationship of this use to assess the emotional relationships over the Internet, as well as to identify the impact of demographic variables for students on the use of the Internet and the evaluation of emotional relationships over the Internet and the extent of students' relationships through the Internet. The researchers used the questionnaire tool on a sample of 400 students from Yarmouk University, which was divided equally between males and females and scientific and theoretical colleges. The sample was divided into four different colleges with 100 students from each faculty. As the scientific colleges, while the other half of the colleges of economics and archeology as theoretical colleges, and included the questionnaire on (23) question reflected the objectives of the study and verified its hypotheses. The study reached several results, the most important of which are: - Students who have formed online relationships are satisfied with them. - The type and nature of the college study affect students' use of educational sites, educational sites, sports, pornography and games sites. The study called on parents and educators to do their part to nurture the best of adolescents, and tried to explain the various challenges and risks that can arise from the students' use of the Internet and the need for further studies on the impact of the Internet on different aspects of life for university students and Arab youth in general.
