Unsteady effects at the interface between impeller-vaned diffuser in a low pressure centrifugal compressor
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2013, Vol 5, Issue 1
Abstract
In this paper, Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) is applied to the analysis of the unsteady rotor-stator interaction in a low-pressure centrifugal compressor. Numerical simulations are carried out through finite volumes method using the Unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes Equations (URANS) model. Proper Orthogonal Decomposition allows an accurate reconstruction of flow field using only a small number of modes; therefore, this method is one of the best tools for data storage. The POD results and the data obtained by the Adamczyk decomposition are compared. Both decompositions show the behavior of unsteady rotor-stator interaction, but the POD modes allow quantifying better the numerical errors.

Numerical investigation of zeros of some dispersion relations appearing in sound attenuation problems in a circular lined duct
In this paper the zeros of some dispersion relations apperaring in sound attenuation problems in circular lined ducts, carrying a gas flow, are investigated numerically. To find the values of frequencies for which the di...
Investigation on Characterizing Heated Pulsating Flows with Hot Wire Anemometers - A Hands-On Approach
The pulsating heated flows are traditionally a difficult subject to treat with conventional hot wire or film methods. Special factors that complicate matters are flow reversal and non linear flow effects of vortices and...
A new approach in the numerical simulation for the blood flow in large vessels
In this paper we are proposing a new approach in the numerical simulation of the blood flow in large vessels. The initial conditions are set to be compatible with the non-Newtonian model used. Numerical experiments in st...
TORNADO concept and realisation of a rotor for small VAWTs
The concept of a three-tier configuration for a vertical axis rotor was successfully developed into a experimental model. The rotor assembly is divided into three tiers with three straight blades in each tier. The three-...
A Hydro-Dynamical Model for Gravity
A hydro-dynamical model for gravity by using an analogy with the attraction of spherical sources in incompressible fluids is proposed. Information regarding a photon-like particle called graviton is taken using an author...
