Urbanization: essence and impact on economic growth

Abstract
The paper is devoted to the essence of urbanization and determination of urbanization factors in economic growth. The main approaches of foreign and home researchers to the definition of the urbanization concept are examined. It is shown that urbanization is a many-sided global process, which is connected with various research factors, and currently is investigated according to different scientific directions. The theoretical approaches to the determination of an economic nature of the present process are outlined. The current level of urbanization in Ukraine is analyzed; the peculiarities of urbanization processes in regions are characterized; It is stated that Ukraine has formal or quantity features of urbanization. The author determines discrepancy of Ukrainian cities to world standards and regulations and as a result the main tasks of spatial development are formulated. The urbanization factors of economic growth are determined. The current study allows to make the conclusion that scale urbanization processes influence on economic growth, that is why their further development has to be formed taking into account the urbanization factors of economic growth.
