Use of MPSO To Break Transposition Cipher System

Abstract
Particle swarm optimization (PSO) based cryptanalysis has acquired much attention because it has fast convergence rate. We investigate the use of Modify Particle Swarm Optimization (MPSO) with some modification in fitness function to break the transposition cipher.MPSO based on using multiple swarm rather than single swarm and exchange information between these swarms to determine the best key. Experimental results of the proposed MPSO appear that the MPSO algorithm reduce the number of tries which are needed to determine the secrete key of the attacked transposition cipher using ciphertext only attack Compared with PSO algorithm. Different parameters are taken for the case study: population size are [20-30] , key size [5-10] and ciphertext [500-10000].
