Use of Nalbuphine/ propofol based conscious sedation, a safe and effective approach for patients undergoing day care endo-venous laser ablation: A preliminary experience
Journal Title: JOURNAL OF MEDICAL COLLEGE CHANDIGARH - Year 2019, Vol 9, Issue 1
Abstract
Endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) has emerged as a preferred day care treatment modality for patients with peripheral venous insufficiency. The procedure warrants the need of an anaesthetic technique which provides adequate sedation and analgesia in a conscious patient with early postoperative recovery and discharge. Based on the increasing role of conscious sedation with tumescent anaesthesia in ambulatory surgeries, we administered nalbuphine/propofol based conscious sedation in patients undergoing EVLA. We observed optimal sedation and analgesia intra-operatively as well as minimal post-operative complications with early mobilisation ensuring early discharge from the medical facility.
