USE OF RENEWABLE AND WASTE ENERGY SOURCES IN HEAT STORAGE SYSTEMS CONNECTED WITH ORC SYSTEMS

Abstract
Raise in the demand for different energy forms that can be observed during the last two decades resulted in appear of many innovative technologies and energy conversion systems. A large number of these systems is dedicated to alternative energy sources use. Among these systems it is possible to find very interesting group of micro power plants, which are working according to C-R cycle with low boiling working fluid – commonly known as ORC`s (Organic Rankine Cycle). Such systems can be useful for energy recovery from renewable as well as waste heat sources characterized by low thermal potential. In many cases irregular character of appearing of such sources and its instable thermal and output characteristics affects ORC system work conditions negatively. One of the possible directions of ORC system work conditions improvement is use of the heat storage systems. Heat storage systems are objects of scientific and research works conducted at the moment by the author in the Institute of Power Engineering and Fluid Mechanics at Wroclaw University of Technology. In this paper directions of the possible improvement of the ORC system work conditions connected with application of the PCM heat storage system were presented.
