Users’ Satisfaction with Mass Rapid Transit and the Effect of Different Genders and Trip Purposes

Abstract

This study investigates the users’ perception with mass rapid transport. It seeks to understand how users perceive MRT facility and service based on their satisfaction level between different groups. In this context, satisfaction is measured based on the different purpose of trips taken as well as gender components. Data were gathered from a survey conducted in May 2018 at 31 stations along the MRT route using five dimensions: facility, responsiveness, information system, safety, and security as well as train and ticket. The findings of this study are based on Independent t-Test, ANOVA and Turkey HSD test for comparison between groups of a stratified random sample of 155 respondents. The result shows a significant difference in satisfaction level between users with different trip purposes, however, there is no significant difference in satisfaction level between different genders. As a conclusion, users were found to be generally satisfied with the MRT facility and service provided thus far.
