Abstract
Artykuł nie zawiera streszczenia w języku polskim. The problem of the article concerns the development of education services at a higher level. In the first part the author discusses the basic models of higher education institutions in the US and Europe, noting the role of the market, government and academic environment. In the second part the author analyses the influence of contemporary economic, market and society conditions on the model of education at a higher level in Poland at the turn of the 20th century. Considerations are conducted on the basis of national and foreign literature sources, available reports and statistical publications. The last part contains reflections on the future of the higher education sector in Poland.
