Uwagi na temat wiersza „Don Juan i Doña Anna” Marii Pawlikowskiej-Jasnorzewskiej

Abstract
On the one hand, this paper sets out to analyze Marii Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska’s poem “Don Juan and Doña Anna” in the context of social and cultural trends of the interwar period. On the other hand, it also attempts an interpretation of the myth of the famed seducer found in European culture. Faithful to the underlying concept of the poet, who made the forsaken Anna the protagonist, the author makes efforts to identify as many references as possible to representations of the deceived lover (sometimes under a different name) in the plays by Moliere, Tirso de Molina or Lorenzo da Ponte. Importantly enough, “Don Juan and Doña Anna” is replete with religious symbols, which offers a broad scope for interpretation.
