Abstract

Worldwide, maternal mortality is unacceptably high, every year Hundreds of thousands of women die from cancer-related complications. pregnancy or childbirth. Objective: Capture the aspects related to the risk factors that cause maternal death specifically during childbirth. Materials and Methods: The research design that was carried out is of a documentary or bibliographic type. Of the review summarized some of the complications or risks that may occur or be evident before the onset of labor, which are: multiple pregnancy, pregnancy postterm, premature rupture of membranes and abnormal fetal presentation. Results: In regarding complications that develop or become apparent during labor labor or delivery, are: Amniotic fluid embolism, Shoulder dystocia, Fetopelvic disproportion, Preterm labor, Prolonged labor, Umbilical cord prolapse and uterine rupture. Conclusions: Increase efforts in the prevention of maternal mortality in order to reduce its rates throughout the world, based on women's access to health services that allow identification and treatment of risk factors and complications, not only during childbirth, but from before conception and until the weeks after it, to increase the chances of a safe termination of pregnancy
